Een bericht van Wabe Children’s Aid and Training (WCAT) uit Ethiopië: All the staff of WCAT is doing very well in the project areas. The school year has already started in most areas of Ethiopia.
In some parts of Amhara( Parts of North Gondar, North and South Wello) and Afar regions, schools are not yet opened. Even Though we concentrated on the war issues, COVID-19 is still a problem in cities like Addis Ababa.
In parts of Amhara( North and South Wello) and Afar regions, there is war and instability with tplf (Tigray Liberation Front) terrorists and its ally OLF-Shenie-Oromo Liberation Front-‘Shenie’. The Ethiopian government and the people are highly challenged by these internal forces ( tplf and Olf groups), external groups(Such as USA and some European countries) and fake news from media( such as CNN and BBC). These are backed by misinformation by terrorist groups in the country. The information abroad and here is very different due to the dissemination of false information. Majority of Ethiopians strongly oppose such negative influences.
Many people in war affected areas of Amhara are displaced and killed, children and females raped, youth are abducted and severely killed in these areas. Yesterday, I heard that out of 7 million war affected people in the Amhara region, around 6 million need emergency support (most of them are kids, children and females). Institutions (industrial parks, hospitals, schools, banks…), in Amhara region are demolished by tplf aggressors. The medical equipment is looted and damaged by tplf in many zones of Amhara. No health services for pregnant women and kids. The terrorists committed extremely immoral, brutal and inhuman crimes on poor civilians in Amhara and Afar!! This is absolutely revenge by tplf for their blind reasons! Last week, a UNHCR and Ethiopian human rights commission report proved that there was no particular ethnic cleansing in Tigray by the Ethiopian government. Rather tplf has been proved to have violated human rights in and out of Tigray region. Tplf used human waves and children below 18 to win the war with the federal government.
In our project areas of South Gondar, there will be war in August 2021. But now, the rebels are repulsed from the area. Anena is on the safe side and operating its educational function very well. Today, I had a call to the Principal of the school and he informed me that everything is going well. Like any other places in the region, capable people go to war fronts to defend civilians and their country.
The federal government declared a 6 months state of emergency to protect the people. All institutional resources (financial, material, human resources) except resources of civil societies are directed to defend the terrorists. There are great mass movements in all regions of Ethiopia protesting the inhuman actions by tplf and Olf. So much more Ank…..
I checked that Anena School, children, teachers and parents are safe as the war is far from them. I have asked the Principal of Anena to give me some information about the school. I will send brief information as soon as I receive it.
